Memory book

FROM YOUR FIRST MEMORY TO YOUR OWN BOOK

How to make your memory book

Start with one story. This guide shows you how to write or record it, add photos and keep a book for your family.

Go at your own pace · AI is optional

Start your book

  1. Open About the book and enter the book title and storyteller’s name. You can add a dedication later.
  2. Select a chapter and type in Your story. Use the suggested question or Another question ↻ if you need a starting point.
  3. Use + Another memory for the next chapter. Change the interface language at the top; your story is not translated automatically.

Record and listen to your own voice

  1. Choose ● Record your voice and allow microphone access if your browser asks. Speak naturally, preferably in a quiet place.
  2. Choose ■ Stop recording. A player appears under the chapter. Press ▶ to hear your original voice; no AI is needed.
  3. Each recording can be up to 10 minutes. Keep the page open while recording. If your computer has no microphone, start on your phone and connect the devices afterwards.

Add photos and captions

  1. Select a chapter and choose + Add a photo. JPG, PNG and WebP are supported. If an HEIC file cannot be added, save it as JPG first.
  2. Use Photo caption for names, a place or an approximate year. Each chapter holds one photo; create another chapter for another photo.
  3. Use a larger original for printing. Check that the photo and its caption appear in the right chapter.

Use AI if you want to

  1. To turn your voice into text, first record your story. Consent to sending the selected content to OpenAI, then choose Recording → text. A private access code may be required during the trial.
  2. Review the transcript, especially names, places and dates. Choose Append to the story or Replace chapter text. The text is not inserted until you choose.
  3. For a written chapter of up to 3,000 characters, choose Generate AI narration. This is a generated voice, not a copy of your voice. Your original recording stays separate.
  4. Generate narration again after editing the text. AI usage limits apply; reaching a limit does not stop you writing or listening to your saved original recording.

Continue on your phone and computer

  1. On the device that already has your story, choose Connect devices. You can start on your phone. Enter the trial access code if requested.
  2. Read the encrypted server storage notice, give consent and choose Create private copy. Wait for confirmation that the book is saved for both devices.
  3. Keep the private link and open that exact link on your other device. From a computer, you can scan the QR code with your phone. From a phone, copy the private link and transfer it privately to your computer.
  4. Usually you only need to connect once. The same book in the same browser syncs when online. Open your saved private link again if you clear browser data or change devices.
  5. Edit on one device at a time and wait for the save confirmation before switching. The ordinary website address does not transfer your book. Two books started separately are not merged automatically.

Keep your own backup too

  1. Choose Save backup. The downloaded JSON file is an editable backup of the story, photos and saved audio recordings. Keep it private.
  2. To restore it, choose Open a backup in the workshop and select your JSON file. Back up the current book before opening another copy. If connected, first choose “Disconnect this device” under “Other storage options”; the server copy remains available through its private link.
  3. Saving on this device is different from server storage. Private browsing, clearing browser data or losing a device can make local work inaccessible.
  4. Anyone with the private link can access and edit the book. Do not publish it or share access codes publicly. The paid audio package includes 90 days of server storage; download your files before it ends.

Preview and download your book

  1. Choose View the whole book. Review chapters, pages, captions and book quality messages.
  2. Press Download PDF. The A5 file is created and downloaded directly; check your browser downloads. The PDF contains text and photos but does not play audio. To print, use Open print dialog, A5, scale 100%, and browser headers off.
  3. Choose Download book with audio for an HTML book containing the recordings. Open it in a browser; a phone’s file preview may not support audio. Keep the JSON backup for further editing.
  4. Book export may require the relevant package or trial access. You can still save a backup when export is unavailable. The print button does not order a physical book.
  5. After the test payment is confirmed, you can also download a purchase confirmation with the package, amount and accepted terms. It contains no private book key; keep your private link separately.

If something does not work

The microphone does not work

Check that your browser has microphone permission and another app is not using it. Open the site in Chrome or Safari rather than a messaging app’s built-in browser. If your computer has no microphone, record on your phone.

My computer does not show the book from my phone

Finish recording on the phone, check the internet connection and wait for the save confirmation for both devices. Open this book’s exact private link on the computer. Use “Check for changes” if needed.

A warning says there are newer changes

First download a backup of the version on this device. Only then choose to open the latest server copy. Conflicting changes are not merged automatically.

AI will not process my recording or text

Check consent, access and the limit shown on the page. Use a recording up to 10 minutes and 20 MB per transcription, or up to 3,000 characters for narration. Save a backup if the request fails.

Do I need to enter my bank card now?

Payments currently run only in a private test environment. Do not enter real card details in the test. Packages and access conditions are described on the offer and checkout pages.
